I don't think the phone app belongs to any gen. It just contains Gen 3 Pokemon, but to me it's just a regular spin off game.

I like to think of games as belonging to a gen according to their chronology. So, pokemon go is a gen VI game, the proof being that fairy types exist in it.

I never said Nintendo has direct control.
I know they're owned by the Pokemon Company.

Go look up "Tembo the Badass Elephant" and tell me that again, also Gamefreak made the jump on Pokemon mobile games before Nintendo reconsidered doing them themselves. Not only does Nintendo have no direct control over Gamefreak, they're relationship is incredible strained and only maintained because neither party wishes to engage in a bloody and expensive legal battle over the Pokemon IP only to potentially lose. Pokemon Let's GO was 100% Gamefreak.

Ignoring the poor grammar for a second, got a source on that? GF were grateful for Nintendo publishing R/G in the first place and Ninty even sent Iwata over from HAL to help knock G/S into shape. Given they've just been printing money since, what makes you think they suddenly despise each other?

Did you? Because clearly it seems you didn't. FRLG lock you to only the first 151 through the main story, even if something evolves by happiness the game will stop the evolution from happening until you unlock the national dex in the post game.
