As someone who dropped Sun and Moon after the first gym because I was burned out on Pokémon in general, why was it so bad again? I like most of the designs, and yeah, the cutscenes were insane, but what really went wrong? Is it just a case of NEW GEN BAD OLD GEN GOOD?

I feel like you answered your own question. I played a bunch of XY, bred lots of shit in the postgame and played online and stuff. Couldn't even get 30 mins into OR when it launched. Came back recently and had a fun time playing it.

I had to replay through that fucking slog to get all legendaries for my living dex. It takes so FUCKING LONG to get anywhere and do anything.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the characters and the story itself, but NOT how it was delivered. Even the slow as shit movement in the original RBY felt better than this.
