I 100% think that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky are the best set of spinoff games.

I have to disagree with you when it comes to dungeon design. sure it's not final fantasy 2 levels of bad or even truly bad at at all but all of the dungeons boil down to rectangular rooms connected by straight hallways that will occassionally bend and turn.

These games beat red/blue rescue team in everything except story. I think the plot in the explorers games is shit tiered compared to the original games.

Partner 2 had really good character growth though. sure they started off too afraid to even join the guild on their own but over the course of the game they learned to stand up for themselves and their partner (you) and even refused to give up when all hope seemed lost.
