The main games are the franchise BACKBONE. They're a big fucking deal, if you haven't noticed, what with advancing the franchise into the present day with new pokemon and battle mechanics. That said, enough people have even complained about Decidueye is worthless in-game with all the dark-types running around Alola and its lack of bulk.

It's a spin-off and nothing more, and not even a prominent part of the franchise like the anime or other spin-off games like Mystery Dungeon was.
