Every sci-fi series has a space whale, giant/flying whales are a common trope in everything, we even have one in the main series game, Wailord (Float Whale Pokemon, do the measurements of the height and weight and you'll find it's lighter than air)
A ton of Pokemon have Levitate, come up with something more original than that.
The moon element isn't shown at all in it's design. Look at Cresselia (who's Psychic type, by the way) and you can very clearly see their connection to space and the moon, with all the crescents on the body. If you look at Mystiovi, you just see a pink whale like creature, the moon doesn't come to mind at all.
