If the game forced a fainted mon to be released, then fuck yes I would enjoy nuzlocke, but since I have to go to the pokemon center, box it, release it, the question in the back of my head arises: "why am I doing this?" Which is something I never want to think about when consuming entertainment. I frequently aim to have a 100% save file in every game I play but even then, my enthusiasm often peters out if it requires mad grinding or something. I just can't enjoy self-imposed challenges unless there's a semi-tangible reward. Even a star on my profile or a trophy is enough. But every time I've done a nuzlocke, I just get bored halfway through because the early game is the only hard part and afterward it's just bleh.
