A Pokemon Dash/Racing game but more similar to Mario Kart.

Instead of item blocks the Pokemon gradually get PP to use attacks depending on what place they are in. The lower the place the faster your PP builds giving you attacks the help you catch up while the higher places gain PP slower and get attacks that slow down other racers.

Some examples of how Pokemon can race:
>Pokemon like Pikachu can drive go karts
>Electrode can roll like in the anime
>Pokemon like Lati@s and Golurk can fly
>Dodrio, Linoone, etc. can run
>Rotom Mow self explanatory
>Charjabug can power itself in those go karts from the anime

Pokemon mainline gameplay but with a system similar to the Playstation Monster collector game that scans CDs to spawn new monsters. Either have it as a mid game or post game side area (maybe a safari zone replacement?). Could work by either scanning QR codes or swapping Switch/3DS cartridges. This allows you to get special moves/abilities on random pokemon.

I remember a few months before Go was announced I was thinking about the concept of an AR Pokemon Snap game but wasn't sure if it would be possible, but turns out it might

For example, you could spend time with the Fire leader and after that all Fire mons would get a small exp boost for the rest of the game.

Trainer XP, gained from filling the Pokédex, beating gyms etc. Every time you level up you can get a small perk or bonus like cheaper items from shops or higher STAB damage.

Pokemon-Pokemon relationship systems (Pokemon in your party can like each other, hate each other, etc.). The relationships affect how Pokemon perform in battle
Taming systems. Pokemon aren't immediately obedient after you catch them and they may not obey commands. Their obedience locks after a certain level of friendship, exp gain, or taming.
