Japan doesn't really have dedicated swear words, though some words are often censored like Sex (セックス; Sekkusu) and variant words of Penis and Vagina. There are plenty of rude words that have a different meaning compared to here, like Bitch means Slut. But it's all about the intended meaning of words. When you have Ash saying "Chikusho", he isn't saying "Goddammit", he's expressing frustration and an appropriate word for him to say in translation is "Darn it". Japanese as a language is also based on formal and informal versions of words, so using an informal speaking style around someone of a higher position than you is considered very rude.
