DexNav, Character Customization if you had cfw :^), Soaring instead of boring fly cutscene, Secret Bases were back and you finally could go to space.

Whether they deserve a game or not, it probably feels weird that generations 1-3 have had remakes, but Sinnoh hasn’t. Logically, if there were going to be more remakes, it would be their turn.

Such a remake is likely unnecessary, but could address some problems with the game from the first time around, like the weak regional dex.

No, it makes sense for only the first three generations to have remakes. I and II couldn't trade to III, and III's carts are starting to break down and saving is no longer possible on quite a few of them. DS games still save and run perfectly after all these years.
Maybe give it a few decades until DS carts start breaking down, then we'll talk.

At that point, they're just better focusing on making completely new games. The original fanbase that would excited over a Sinnoh remake would be long gone.

Theoretically, DS carts have a finite number of saves. It's a pretty high number, somewhere in the tens if not hundreds of thousands. Reaching that limit is unrealistic through normal gameplay, but if you were to max out the total number of overwrites, the existing save wouldn't implode like it did with the Gold/Silver GBC cartridges. It would remain intact; every time you turn on the DS and play, you would be taken back to the exact same save that remained.

Emulation would easily solve this problem as well as a remake would. GF doesn't give a shit about fixing problems in current year, they just want easy money.
