what happens to baby pokemon that are born in the wild and no trainer ever catches and befriends them so they can never evolve?

Game mechanics don't apply to lore/worldbuilding. (Which is why Primarina and Delphox are primarily female)

They grow “friendship” with their parents

When you capture them or hatch them especially you’re taking the role of their parents
