It's my least favorite series, just because it felt like they traded game play improvements for graphical improvements. That being said, anyone calling the series "ded" is pants on head retarded.
Being able to dress up your character is a big bonus and I dig it. Mega Evolutions I'm mostly OK on, I'd prefer if they did evolutions to older pokemon like they did in gen 4 with Dusknoir. Powercreep has just gotten worse and worse, but the game's always, always been fucking awful when it comes to balance much to the detriment of smogonfags. A lot of the new Pokemon they did add, like Aegislash, Mimiku, Buzzwole, Pangoro, Hawlucha, Xurkitree and the Tapus are really cool designs and are some of my favorite Pokemon, up there with Gengar, Grumpig and Reuniclus.
The Genwunner shit of the 3DS games is my biggest complaint, however. New Pokemon are neat as fuck and constantly pushing older designs down our throat instead of giving other gens the love they deserve is infuriating. It just seems like it's pandering to older nostalgiafags instead of creating new memories for the younger playerbase that the games are focused around.
And while this is contradictory considering what I posted above, I still appreciate that these games are for kids and can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone who can read. While I think that lack of post-game content, especially challenging content is a major issue and shouldn't be ignored, I'm alright with the main story being a bit on the easy side. It really should be a series that anyone can enter into and enjoy and trying to protest otherwise or demand the game changes to prevent makes you just as bad as a Brony.
