Look no further for a perfect example than all the sneakers and shit with a brand name that you pay 100+ dollars for that'll wear out in a couple months and made the kid who put them together 20 cents.
Even if at some point they were quality, a brand name doesn't guarantee it remaining quality either.
I recently had to replace my can opener, for example. The one I had been using was one I held on to after my mother died that still worked perfectly fine. I replaced it with the same brand twice and the first time wasn't a fluke - it died within 10 cans both times. The one that just died? My mother bought in the early 80s that's how quality it was back then and clearly no longer is.
Brand names are meaningless. You always have to take each on an individual case. There are no exceptions to this, including Pokémon.
