The Pokemon Company needs to stop with this delusion that Pokemon is a driving factor for the sales of Nintendo systems. It helps, but it's not the only or even the biggest factor like they seem to think it is.

Pokemon Sun and Moon were literally the fastest ever selling Nintendo games outside of Japan. Pokemon is a really, really big deal for Nintendo consoles.

It's not the driving factor, but even shit tier games like Let's Go are managing to sell well on Amazon and other places, and we haven't seen shit but the first trailer and a few screenshots. So imagine how much the first set of mainline games will sell for the Switch? Millions of units or more like they always do. Pokemon is a large factor for the sales of the Switch or Nintendo Systems in general, but it's not the only series making a big difference. Not sure how Zelda or Mario sell in the East alongside other games, but I'm sure they sell just as fine.

Pokemon is the only series that matters you fuckwits. There's a mainline game basically every single year or two, and that makes up a major sum of sales for the Nintendo. Without Pokemon Nintendo would be absolutely struggling right now.

He's right if the next mainline game is good. At the moment there's only a handfull of good games for the Switch and if you don't like a single one of them the console isn't worth the investment.

With the exception of Splatoon 2 and presumably Smash Bros there's very little replay value in most of the games for the Switch and Pokemon is great to put thousands of hours into. Pokemon can be the game which fills the gap between other AAA releases for the console as there's always something to go back to and autistically grind out, why would people go back to Odyssey/Zelda after completion? If the next game is good it'll be a good console seller as there's no alternative on any other platform

Very true, but every now and then you'll find yourself replaying Breath of the Wild, Odyssey, or Xenoblade 2. Plus a lot of other games are getting ported to the Switch like the whole Dark Souls Remastered Collection which has hours galore to blow on the main campaign itself and etc for years to come.

It doesn't really matter when Yokai Watch will be replacing Pokemon eventually anyway. This series is going to end and Nintendo needs a backup for when it does, so get ready. Mario and Zelda are highly profitable, but they don't even reach Pokemon's number of sales, especially in nipponland.

Mario has had several hundred games while Pokémon is still in the hundred+ category meaning Mario games have sold , on average, 1.2 million per game while Pokémon has sold about 2.6.

There's a reason it's sold well over 300 million copies of the games to be the second best selling series right behind Mario and overtook everything to be the best selling franchise in the world.

Most recent games have sold better outside Japan. Even Europe has outsold Japan and Nintendo tends to not do as well in Europe.

I only really bought a 3ds for pokemon. I hardly ever buy 3ds games, especially when console games are only 20 dollars more brand new, and way more often go on sale for 20 dollars, while shitty developers throw shovelware on the 3ds and ask for 40
