Is it just me or has the quality of the pokemon games declined since gen 6? I am not trying to be blind by nostalgia but looking back gen 4-5 were imo when pokemon was at its peak in terms of quality. since XY it has gone downhill. Anyone agree/disagree?

Id say it was because gamefreak had to focus on the nx as of 2014 and they had to rushed other games to put more time and focus into the nx games

I agree. Although I persona)y think gen 5 STARTED the downward trend (nobody has over 4 Pokemon, mystery gifts being just handed to you in a mart instead of actually going to a new place, ect).
The difference to me is that BW2 still managed to be fun and entertaining with tons of stuff to do DESPITE that drawback.
Now everyone has 4 mons at most PLUS you can beat the games quick as fuck. They don't have the excuse of "well at least there's plenty of exploring to do".
XY seemed to be the point of no return.

We know they already spent at minimum 2 years on it which the 3ds games besides X and y only had 1 year and the switch games don't release until next year. So that's 3 years minimum development time,

There are signs of decline and change from game to game rather than just from Generation to Generation. For example, Platinum was when TPCi took over all Pokémon-related duties from Nintendo, including localization. For HGSS, Ken Sugimori didn't do the illustrations for the Rocket executives, and he didn't do the character designs for the Kanto Gym Leaders when he had been responsible for all character designs and illustrations up through Platinum. How isn't that a retarded argument? All Pokemon games can be completed in 7 hours while normal people complete a run in 30, 50 hours MAX. None of them is longer or shoter.

The difference is a lot of the other games had really nice sized postgame and a good amount of optional places to explore, while the newer games have like 3 optional places at most and they're always simple as fuck and unfulfilling. Sure, the games are quick if you just get the badges, beat the league and quit, but now that's all there really is unless you wanna play Battle Tower forever.
No Battle Frontier, no Fuego Ironworks, no extra gyms, nothing besides the boring ass legendary hunt started by ORAS and the token battle tower clone.
