The ultimate shame is that Korrina was clearly going to become champion in a X2/Y2 game, a la Iris in B2/W2. We got fucking robbed.

I think well rounded teams are more fitting for champions. Monotype would just be too restrictive for a champion (not to mention how much easier to beat they would likely be). If anything, a champ's team could be thematic, and potentially have a repeated type (such as Steven Stone not being fully restricted to Steel or Lance not being fully restricted to Dragon).

And you're absolutely right. X2Y2 could've been fucking amazing, and Korrina was very clearly set up to be the next champion (and she would've been a really good one, too). To this date, XY are the only games in the series with no followup whatsoever and it's a crime. I would be legit happy (and I've been hoping for this for years now) if we got some kind of Z or X2Y2, even now. Better late than never. Hell, I'd be completely fine if we got that instead of Gen 8 in 2019.

Champions are better when they diversify their team compositions, I mean look at past examples:
>Green - no clear weaknesses - decent battle
>Lance - majority of team weak to Ice - easily swept by a Lapras
>Steven - majority of team weak to water - can be swept with at least 2
>Wallace - majority of team weak to electric/grass - can be swept with at least 2
>Cynthia - no clear weaknesses - enjoyable battle
>Alder - majority of his team weak to fire - can be swept with at least 2
>Iris - majority of team weak to ice - can be swept with 2
>Diantha - majority of team weak to ice - can be swept with at least 2
>Kukui - majority weak to fighting (depending on chioce of starter) - can be swept by 2
>hau - no clear weaknesses - decent battle
Now is a champion battle where a Gardevoir can take out the entire line-up worth anything, or would it be best left as a Gym Leader/E4 member battle?

This so cool how they made a roller blader into a Fighting-type specialist, I'd imagine this is how Korrina mimics the Fighting-type moves she adored, with her blades attached.
