Cats are just cat or the cat unless they have multiple. Dog is more likely to be named because it will answer but is still sometimes just the dog. Even my parents rabbit, though it was given a proper pet name is usually the rabbit, or rabbie if being affectionate, same with the previous two rabbits when I was a kid.
Heck, for that matter, my dad is full Kratos and only ever calls me boy or the boy (doesn't matter that I'm 25 and been bills independant for years including university). I used to call him dad but somewhere about 11 he decided he preferred just sir, so I guess we're sir, the boy, and the rabbit, and the only person in the house with a full name is mom because there's no way she'd put up with that.
