After the post-final gym battle, he goes through a dialogue saying he understands now that he can't be a solo player and needs help from others.
Challenges you at the Elite 4 after you beat the final Elite 4 and take the championship title. Shows you he learnt the importance of friendship from you and finally has a fully evolved team.
