I mean I love both games in that generation, but for different reasons.
BW1 aesthetics, seasons, music and actual effort put was such a wave of fresh air. My favorite part of Unova will always be reaching Castelia for the first time at night. They were trying so many new things (non-gimmick) in this gen. The dex was also fantastic, a lot of my favorites come from gen5. I feel like it gets a lot of shit nowadays due to a few bad apples, the disappointing starters (which are always important as they're pretty much the representatives of the region), and the normalfags eternally crying about having to use new mons.
I think BW2 is more fun to play thanks to the postgame and the huge variety in the dex (which is probably the most decisive factor for the replayability in pokemon games). Plus I think these games were the peak of gyms, and I mean that as in the design of the gyms themselves.
But somehow I always end up coming back to BW1.
