Even if you can say "yeah it's cocky saying something like that", you can't say that he isn't right in a logical way. Because choosing the right words and expressions in any context is really important in a communication, and makes the difference between two kind of messages, even if they're saying the same information, but in a different way, with a different interpetration and intention of it.
