It's not so much bias as it is pointing out facts. Shit like Bulbasaur, Clefairy, Nidoking, Chansey, Magmar, etc. objectively look less like a cartoon version of animals than almost everything in Gen VII.

Just look at the fucking Blastoise to other turtles comparison. They said why they think its Blastoise has a good design and basically said "I dont like it" about the other turtles and acted as if thats valid criticism.

Also, putting Buneary next to Bunnelby is kind of dumb, since it makes it obvious the ways in which it isn't much like a rabbit at all.

I think it does have a generally good point, if a poorly thought out one. A lot more recent pokemon seem to be trying to be a very specific species of a type of animal and draw on that heavily.

Like, Kingler might just be a weird giant crab with some spikes, but Clauncher is specifically trying to be a pistol shrimp. I adore both of them, but there's clearly more intent behind the later design in regards to what it's inspired by.
