I’d say HGSS was definitely the peak, though Gen V was still really good. Gen VI introduced some very welcome changes, like trainer customization, Refresh/Amie, etc. However XY came out a little bland and boring despite those fantastic additions, and ORAS fell short due to needlessly cut content and lack of new content like HGSS provides. Gen VII completely failed, however, to properly expand and improve upon Gen VI.
