Even navigating the world? Remember you need at least Cut, Surf and Strength for it, and the only Pokemon that can learn all three are only available about halfway into the game (Kingler and Lickitung, not counting Mew).

The keyword is winning, referring to winning every battle, which you starter can do if you overlevel it enough. If it's referring to winning the game then no, one Pokemon can't do it all.

there are a couple of videos on youtube by a guy who seems to have cheated himself a krabby starter and then did a kingler solo run

not sure if its a full series but the gym and league fights are definitely there

also multiple series on kingler solo runs in the second gen

iirc the only thing stopping swampert from totally soloing hoenn is the fact you have to have a second Pokemon to fight Tate and Liza.
