>>36009555While they took it little too far with Samurott(unless they reveal it has a Dewott-like head under it's helmet), I feel the Sinnoh starters are the perfect examples of "feels related but isn't too reliant on the pre evo's design".
>Grotle becomes a bigger turtle with foliage, but gets a drastic palette change, shell changes shape, differently colored nose, and shrubs become a tree>Monferno becomes a bigger monkey with a facial marking, but gets allot more white hair, golden bands become armor pads, differenly colored fingers, and the flame on it's tail was moved to it's head >Prinplup becomes a bigger crested penguin, but it's blue palette was changed to black, it's belly pattern is no longer the same, and suddenly gains some body armor and fingers Ever notice why these starters are considered as some of the best ones in the series? They're similar to the pre-evos, but their designs are also interesting enough for themselves to stand out. Typhlosion is very similar to Quilava, but the lack of artistic risks taken is why it's commonly considered to be too bland/boring. But hey, if you strongly prefer evos that play too safe, I won't try to change your mind.
