I think the biggest problems with the 3ds line was they were over ambitious which may sound weird, but think of it as they spent a majority of the dev time understanding how develop for the 3ds, and making all the 3d models only for them to make the 3ds shit itself
But now they have all the models made and even things like walking/running animations, unique animations for status effects.
they also have a lot of time and a bigger dev team to work on figuring out how to develop for the switch (which many devs mention how easy it is to work with).
i don't expect a game as good at plat-b/w2, but it will be better than gen 6-7 and the game after it might start bringing it back to that plat-b/w2 golden age if not better
