we assumed there was no way game freak would fuck up what might very well have been the easiest job they ever had, but they did and did so far beyond any of our expectations.
i know a lot of people who, rightfully so, swore off of buying pokemon games after what a shitshow ORAS ended up being. most of them don't regret it.
