Honestly all the gens have amazing music. That's one thing Gamefreak consistently has gotten right. At worst the newest gens just don't have very memorable music, but it's still solid.

Lol, no.

Gen 1 and 2 are hands down the best. 6 and 8 bit absolutely require some skill to actually make something listenable.

Orchestrated music is great, but a mistake in video games.

Gen 3 is certainly capable of making newer Gen music better like https://youtu.be/VVwjzUQpQbQ but it's not as better than the original as the following is https://youtu.be/RZPeRa7_ECg

X and Y have at least three good songs, the Xerneas/Yveltal battle theme, Kalos Power Plant and the Champion theme, those are the only ones I remember.
