I'm doing a nuzlocke of Diamond. First time playing gen 4 in a while, and holy shit is it slow. Terrible Pokemon selection too. It's a shame, because otherwise they're pretty good.

Replaying Super Mystery Dungeon, it's actually a lot better than I remember. I tried making a team out of my top 3 favorites and to my suprise they all have good synergy.

You can actually get to the entire map except cinnabar/seafoam islands, with only the first two badges. And you can go from lavender town to fuchsia without battling a single trainer. I wish the design choices for the map for first Gen had translated at all to later gens

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Honestly, this is a pretty neat thing that you can do, but it potentially throws some things out of wack if you can access the Safari Zone that much earlier than you were really meant to.

I'm replaying Platinum trying to use new pokemon. I hadn't realized how often I replay the games with just the same team with few variations.

Boxed the starter and I'm currently running around with a Goldeen, Ponyta and I think I might try to get that eevee to become an Umbreon or Espeon. Is Nosepass decent in-game or boring as fuck to use? Tried using shieldon once, but I hate stall-like mons that can't do shit.

Fire types aren't good in Kanto and is a waste of team slot anyways. Every trainer they do well against can be covered by other types you will have on your team.

I beat Gold on VC this week after playing Crystal physically a few years ago.
I wouldn't say it feels slower but the 3ds shape is weird when playing a game boy game. Felt too wide sometimes and the buttons are pretty small.

Yeah, I had forgotten how few there were when you don't have Charizard carrying you. But I managed to catch a Growlithe with a decent Nature outside Celadon, trained it up to 31 so it learned Flame Wheel, then hit it with a Fire Stone and kicked Erika's ass. It was pretty satisfying one-shotting everything she had.

Why do you need a fire type?
>pidgey/spearow/farfetch'd/doduo for fly hm, takes care of grass/fite/bug

You can also pick up a mankey really early on to take care of steel/ice

Flareon sucks in fr/lg, it comes at level 25 and it skips its Ember skill, meanwhile Vaporeon/Jolteon can get access to water/elec gym attacks when you get them. Sure you can get Flamethrower like the other anon said but gambling sucks + not enough cash yet

At least it wasn't the fucking Minesweeper clone/literally nothing we got in later gens, fuck Europe. But yeah if you're looking for a Fire-type Growlithe/Vulpix (especially Growlithe) is probably your best bet. Just make sure you don't evolve them too early.

It's not too hard to win the slots in FRLG. Just mash A until you can tell that the slots aren't stopping fast enough, that means you can easily line them up. I hit 9999 coins in about 20 minutes

Red's team is absolute trash. Even his Light Ball Pikachu failed to 1shot my level 30 HM slave Gyarados with a Quick Attack. Only Snorlax is an actual threat on that team, that Pikachu lead is prime setup bait for any ground type you have that isn't part Rock

You'll never get 777 consistently with good timing, even tool assisted. That's one good thing about Voltorb Flip, you can cheat for the coins to win 2500+ coins per play.

DPPT's coin earning is so slow compared to how expensive everything is, and RSE's slots are the worst of the bunch. I've only seen Reel Time once and it helped zero.

Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Glaceon and Sylveon favor Sp Atk.

Flareon and Leafeon favor Atk.

Umbreon technically favors Atk but both offensive stats are dismal.

In the first three gens Flareon is able to do alright because of its 95 SpAtk stat, it just sucks that it can't fully utilize it's 130 Atk stat. It's still a stronger Special Attacker than Ninetales but it's slightly lower than Arcanine, Magmar and Charizard. The physical/special split should have helped it but it didn't get a strong STAB physical attack until it finally got Flare Blitz in Gen VI.

But Flareon's issue has always been it's shitty speed. It's HP and Defense are low but if it was fast enough to sweep that fragility wouldn't be a problem. That it's so slow compared to something like Magmar or Arcanine makes it basically useless.

OP definitely fucked up. Should have gone for Vaporeon (high HP, SpAtk and SpDef) or Jolteon (high Speed, SpAtk and SpDef).

Moving on I suppose and will remember this for the next time I play these games 3-5 years from now. Didnt pick Vaporeon because either Dewdong or Lapras and didnt pick Jolteon because of Raichu.

Most specifically, Desmume. The dev is actually a spiteful fuck that went out of his way to ignore all of the bugs that playing mainline pokemon has. The other PC emulators are more obscure, have less features, and have no fast forward. Hope you like playing on a fucking phone.

From what I've heard, melonDS is supposed to be accurate, or at least accurate enough to manage netplay. It doesn't have fast forward though, and I don't think it even has savestates.
