Lucario sometimes is drawn with a proper muzzle though. It depends on the angle it's drawn from.

Lanturn reminds me more of a beluga than an anglerfish with how it doesn't have that huge set of jaws. Ampharos/Serperior line is such a big offender of that, good pointing it out.

I mean, the mareep line is sheep. They don't open their mouths very wide, even if they should be positioned more towards their nose.

Serperior just seems disconcerting to me now. Like I never really registered that it didn't have a proper maw

If we are going to complain about Lucario's "nose, how come nobody complains about Pikachu having it's eyes pointing forward like a human rather than to the sides like a mouse?
It's the same thing. They are a little humanized because they are cartoons.

There are some examples like this where it's not as bad. It might be better if the mouth was drawn properly but at least the nose and head connect in a way that doesn't turn the muzzle into a massive schnoz like Lucario.
