Probably. Delphox's in-game model is awful when compared to the art. Chesnaught is worse, if he had a little more black on him I'd think he was a scrapped gen 5 concept.

It's objectively the least shitty of the trio I agree, though I feel they might've made it more interesting if it wasn't designed to be the first new water starter. I miss that caveman theme it's pre evo was building up(unless it's belly pattern represents a loincloth or something. Though even if it was, it looks like an afterthought as its identical to Totodile's chest pattern)

Water's access to Ice moves would have made any fast special water the best of the starters, it's just that until Greninja they had all been slow. Protean is just the cherry on top.
Chesnaught and Delphox are both actually pretty good for starters, Greninja is just better. Ash-Greninja is pretty questionable though

Pretty much. Greninja got popular early, and rather than try to make the other two look good, they catered to Greninja fans hard. It’s so obnoxious that Greninja is the only one of the three gen 6 starters to get an alternate form.

Yes, for example, it made more sense that Greninja's ability served to steal things or pickpocket and Delphox's ability to take advantage of a varied movepool.

Even an ability to put / or deactivate traps could have made more sense. I like the greninja design and its inspiration, but the attention that nintendo gave to these starters really was very unequal.

Feraligatr is actually usable. Sheer Force boosts its Liquidation (Waterfall in Gen 5 & 6), Ice Punch, and Crunch. Also rounds out its set with stuff like Superpower, Aqua Jet, Swords Dance, and Dragon Dance.

It really was. In more ways than one. Also, that’s the first time I’ve ever actually liked Delphox’s design. It’s 3D model is garbage, as most of them all are. That sprite of it looks fantastic though, I’d have maybe chosen it had things stayed 2D as they should’ve.

You and me both know how, anon.
Also GF shilling the most popular starter isn’t a very common thing, it really only happened with Charizard and Greninja, at least with gen 7 it’s a bit understandable, Rowlet and Litten were very popular while their final forms aren’t as much but are still close, they couldn’t see the difference in shilling either so they went with their preference, and god forbid shilling the feminine starter, because pokemans are for big boys.
