>>36062680Oh, I am aware. I got lucky, I genuinely like Incineroar as one of my favorite pokemon, so seeing it rise to the top in VGC and get great anime treatment was a relief. I remember back in earlier fandoms starter rivalries were way more low-key and it was just excitement to see *A* starter evolve or in general, and knowing all of them would be prominently seen in time, versus it being an end-all be-all sweepstakes for just one.
Maybe things will be better in Gen 8. Incineroar definitely came out well in this gen against the other rwo, but it wasn't Greninja-levels of shilling like Gen 6. Maybe things will become even more even-handed next gen.
