Emboar really didn't need to be bipedal and just turned Fire/Fighting into a meme, and Incineroar was just Dark because Gamefreak was also aware of the meme and wanted to avoid it without actually avoiding it.
Delphox was just kinda eh, but I can see why they went for a more humanoid look to differentiate it from Ninetales.
