>>36064793>Do you honestly think this won't happen to the next set of starters?Honestly? Not to the same degree as these three. Gen VI didn't have this level of shitflinging, because one stood head and shoulders above the rest in both viability and popularity. I don't recall seeing anything like this for Gen V either, because all three were more or less garbage. And let's not forget that a large part of what made these starter wars so fucking cancerous was the fact that all three were leaked several months before we knew their names, stats, types, and moves, and that they would thus all be shit. Coming off of Gen VI's overwhelming Greninja favoritism, that period is what made so many people assume that Decidueye would be the next Greninja, and I believe that those dashed hopes and the resulting salt/schadenfreude from all sides is what has made this gen's starterwars so fucking unbearable. Gen VII had a perfect storm of shit behind it that will be very difficult for Gen VIII to truly recreate. I expect that a) there will be a clear winner of the eighth set and/or b) there won't be a leak several months before the games come out.
>>36064848After the physical/special split, a lot of people seem to want to see Typhlosion's Attack and Special Attack stats swapped so it'd be able to do more with the moves it has and also wouldn't be a literal carbon copy of Charizard.
>>36064890It wasn't nearly as bad, though. One side had everything in the bag, one side was pure salt, and one side just fapped in the corner. This gen the salty party and the winning party changes by day and by hour, with the third party occasionally taking a break from fapping in the corner to be smug.
