A test of patience and dedication is still a test, and personal gratification is a very valid outcome for the use of leisure time. I own a living dex, two of my roommates don't, they say they don't bother because 'they could do it any time.' But if you don't do it, then you haven't done it. It's collection for the sake of satisfying an urge. If you don't have that urge, then don't feel pressured to waste your time.
