Trying to teach a casual type advantages is probably one of the most infuriating things in the world. I mean, forgetting things like dragon being SE against dragon or bug being SE against dark andis psychic is ok I suppose. But right now my (older) brother is halfway through donde with Moon and getting his ass handed because he keeps shooting fire and birds at rocks, and still needs to be reminded that plants feed on water.

Hey man, Gen 3 has a ton of really fantastic early game Pokemon. Nincada, Ralts, Lotad, Poochyena, Zigzagoon, Seedot, and of course the starters, can you really blame someone for taking more than a few of these?

Your starter can pretty much solo game without making any deliberate effort to grind, and just spamming your most powerful attack at any given moment. It's designed so a kid can beat it.

That's more to do with DP's garbage distribution of it's already small dex though. Nearly nobody is going to waste the effort of Honey trees just to get some shitmon like Burmy that few people give a shit about. Other mons that are almost always in DP teams are Gastrodon and Bronzong as they're easily available and good.

It's a bit better in Platinum due to the evolutions of old mons that should have been there in the first place.

What does grinding have to do with having an over leveled starter? When I catch a new mon I just use it against trainers until it catches up to the others. You don't have to grind wild pokemon to do that.

I don't even know how its possible. The newest games throw so many revives at you it's not even funny. I don't even understand in the older games either. The movesets are terribad and you have items and badge boosts at your disposal. How do you manage to get stuck on Pokemon? And then it has consequences since the 3DS game ares ridiculously handholdy and Lets Go looks even more handholdy than XY and SM.

No sweetie, I'm sure Lets Go wants traditional Pokemon fans to buy the games as well. That's kinda why its part of the Pokemon brand and not a new IP.
