What makes Yu Gi Oh's TCG better than Pokémon's, exactly?

Aesthetically-wise, PTCG looks way better with a cleaner design and optimized graphics overall. But YTCG has something really allealing and much more enjoyable than PTCG.

Yugioh has been consistent with its card layout over the years, Pokemon hasn't.

But gameplay-wise, it's all subjective. Personally I prefer Yugioh's playstyle for its constant player interactions, while Pokemon's interactions are only on a turn-by-turn basis.

You don't have to throw away all your cards when a new gen comes around and all your current cards are unusable.*
The gameplay is faster without being bullshit like MTG green or red.**
Tournaments are bigger. There is a bigger player base.

*it used to be like this. Now every time a new set or banlist comes out you gotta throw away your deck because Konami refuses to make splashable cards, everything is tied to archetypes now, and instead of fixing the powercreep they nerf an archetype and then release one that's more broken.
**YGO since the Xyz came out is complete bullshit. The amount of plays and chains per turn are not only stupid and confusing, they're super boring to watch. Mirror matches are won by whoever plays first.

tl;dr, YGO TCG is shit, Konami ruined it, and there is no point in playing that dumpster fire of a game unless you stick to old rules and banlists.

The most advantage you can have is it clearly being made for an older audience, but not even that is far removed, as it's still vapid as heck. You're better off doing neither, and no other TCG either. They're all nothing but a money sink and a waste of time.

Pokemon TCG is more enjoyable to me simply because they aren't constantly adding new synchro type shit to their game. With Yugioh, I feel like I'm learning the game again every year due to new card types.

I hate them both, pokemon is too simple and yugioh plays too much like solitaire now, cant say ive lost more then a few games that wasnt an issue of my draws vs the opponents draws.

Mtg is the only card game i play now sonce i feel like i have some sort of locust of control.

Pokemon is more friendly in the rules, the formats and all. Yugioh was cool before (bloomer inc) but now is so broken that you cant even play, only playing meta tier decks that are going to be garbage the next ban list

The fact that there are hundreds of cards which need to use size 4 font just to fit the paragraph it takes to describe various card effects makes YTCG infinitely less approachable and intuitive than PTCG.

They made it somewhat slower with the new LINK mechanic.
Tough it's still faster then MGT or PTCG. But no near as insane as it was during xyz-pendulums where a game was decided by your starting hand and three turns in.

Digimon had the better idea, both players play on all turns.

It really wasn't until everyone started copying the 5 minute long norden combos. And that was just poor decision making on the TCG for not banning the card that started literal fist fights in the OCG because it was so unbalanced.

Zoo at its prime really can't compete with actually good decks at their prime like full power nekroz, their best play is a once per turn targetting destruction effect.

Lmao games are decided on turn 1 these days because you can summon a board of 6 monsters and your opponent literally just can't do anything at all if they didn't draw a very specific card.

This guy gets it. It's really hard to get into and by the time I feel like I've learned everything, the meta etc, they come out with a new mechanic that I need to learn that completely changes the game. the walls of text on every card doesn't help, and I feel like I have to stop literally every game and read both players cards. on top of this, decks are more expensive, and deck building is harder if you haven't been playing fopr a while, since you will not know what older cards do. The games, atleast from what I have played, end in a few turns. That doesn't feel enjoyable to me at all.
I've recently gotten into PTCG and I must say, it seems better IMO. Have a beta account for MTGArena, I'm just not sure how to make decks on there or I'd tryt that too.

All in all I think Pokemon is the better TCG

Granted YGO has the better sim in YGOpro as it seems like the PTCGO devs don't care about their sim and refuse to make trading smoother or add in ranked play etc

This is not splashable at all. For one "draw" it requires you to a) control no monsters and b) use Sky Striker cards to search out.
For the other, you need 3+ spells in the GY which sure you'll probably have that by turn 5 but even then it's not guaranteed and it can easily be a dead draw

this is actually the most brainlet opinion on yu-gi-oh you can have. this shit only applies to high level tournament yu-gi-oh (which 99% of players don't participate in). not only that, but for the past 5 or so years most archetypes have been able to survive through multiple formats and even Master Rulings. Burning Abyss in particular has been a solid deck for over 4 years now. not to mention that there are plenty of deck engines that are still completely usable and will probably continue to be for years to come (Frogs, Hands, Kaiju). the only cards that get powercrept is absolute garbage shit like Vehicroids or Nordics which never had a chance in the first place.

Yugioh started out a homage to MTG in a manga, which was then jerryrigged with shitty rules to take children's lunch money. The reason Yugioh is constantly being reinvented is because it never had a core design in the first place. It's a shitty game at its core with gimmicks piled on top to try to make it function.

Yugioh is better because it has a fleshed out combat system just as rich as the Pokemon video game,
while Pokemon's card game is hardly even a gimped version of the Pokemon video game.
You get like two attacks, and a lot of them are made up.
I need resources in order to attack, whereas I don't in Yugioh, and PP hardly ever matters.
And the type system is so barren.
And Yugioh can put out way more designs and archetypes than Pokemon can, so more to play.
Why would I play the Pokemon trading card game instead of the video game, or instead of Yugioh?

Yes, Yugioh has gone to shit this decade, but I can always go back to an earlier form of it
that was more solid, just like with Pokemon's video game,
whereas Pokemon's card game has always been subpar.
