Does anyone else really hate black&white 2?

First off, I have no bias here. I don't mind the fan base and actually, I wanted to like them. They just have no soul. They feel made by a fan with a map editor, everything about them just feels off and fan made.

huh, unironically I really like Black 2 first time playing it, it feels perfectly fine, big, lively, vivid, fun and the characters and mechanics are okay.

As someone who liked all of the risks and experimentation B/W tried, it felt a little too safe and the more bog-standard story didn't help that feeling.

I didn't really hate it but as an avid Gen 5 fan, I always felt it did a disservice to BW1's storytelling.

BW1 had this buildup with N and Ghetsis, up to that pinnacle climax where Ghetsis loses it and calls N a warped, defective child despite being so calculating up to that point. Like just before that, all the gym leaders gather to fight Plasma. You get the slow development of Cheren realizing he's just not equipped to be the best like you are, and being a trainer just plain isn't the right path for Bianca. Those things are always gonna stick in my mind.

BW2 felt so lazy in comparison. The sages were uh, there I guess, considering they were the driving force for a lot of the plot. Ghetsis went mad so he's just a generic evil guy now with generic evil grunts. Your rival tries to have a motivation that's kinda really shitty and stops being relevant halfway through the game.
Mechanically I loved things like the habitat changes, new gyms, PWT, hidden grottos, etc. It was probably the ideal Pokemon game to base a romhack off of, since it fixed so much of BW1's issues. But I couldn't ever fully enjoy the base game.
