Geodue in Silver, on Route 45 at the beginning of the game. When I saw the sparkling stars I thought it has some rare item with it. It had none, so boxed it. Realized it was shiny after Red Gyarados event.

Technically it was the Lake of Rage Gyarados, but my first shiny that wasn't in any way imtended by the game was a Golbat in the Ice Path in Heart Gold. It was on my first play through. I was going through the ice path at around 8:30 PM, specifically the room where you use strength to push the stones into the holes to make them drop to the room below, and then out popped my Golbat. It's a Crobat now. That same Heart Gold copy proved to be very lucky as I had 2 other shinies just pop out randomly in that game. The one after Golbat was a Slowpoke in the Safari Zone and after that was a Caterpie on Route 2 south of Pewter City.

If red gyarados and shiny event pokemon don't count, my first proper shiny was Zapdos from VC Gen 1. Took about 2000 SRs but I got there. It's currently in Gen 2 but I haven't transported it yet.

Putting the Gyarados aside, it was a Shiny Graveler in Heart Gold. I just caught it and boxed it forever, in fact it's still there on my original cartridge. I knew I'd have been way more excited if it was a Pokemon I actually cared about.

Not counting Red Gyarados, this was my first ever shiny. I was fishing in Pokemon X for two straight hours chaining and finally got my first ever. I was so ecstatic I had to take a picture and literally named it "OHMYGOD"

A shiny weedle in Silver which was a counterfeit, so the battery ran out even faster than a normal cartridge and it didn't work in stadium via transfer pack. Also rip my team.
My autistic headcanon is that one larvitar I recently hatchet is the one I rised back then I love her the same.

I bought the Magikarp from the guy in the Pokemon Center by Mt Moon and it was shiny. This was in FR. Still have the cartridge. Shame even if I bring him up Shiny Gyarados is worthless.
