Honestly the trading requirements have gotten stupid overtime. Trading was already bad enough since it required a friend... who also had a copy of the game... who also had a link cable. But now that wifi is a thing they've gone out of their way to make evolving some pokemon as asinine as possible. When will you ever, EVER, use a Magmarizer for any reason other than to evolve Magmar?
