Following recent events with Drumpf literally firing, killing and beating up brave transgender generals of the US Army I think toxic masculinity and gender stereotypes and even worse, nationalistic and patriotic symbols like Lt Surge, really should not have a place in Pokemon? Not to mention he is easily related to weapons and death that may trigger some players PTSD.
I think he needs a redesign or the best choice of all, retconned and deleted from the franchise. Ryuki from Alola may take his place but we all know an Indian programmer prodigy kid or a scientist black girl would be the most appropriate and inclusive choices that reflect the current year and reality.
