The reason most of the reasonable people are mad about LGPE isn't LGPE itself, but what it'll do to future games after Generation 8's Debut Titles.
GameFreak is almost certainly going to determine the direction the games go based on which sells more as well as feedback from both Japan and the masses in the West, but either way we're all fucked because the Debut Titles will most likely be a repeat of SM; Slow, littered with interruptions in the form of fade-out sequences, piss easy, and full of Kanto Pandering, which means we'll still be stuck with mediocre titles.
But on the other hand, if LGPE surpasses the Debut Titles, we might very well see a reboot that outright removes species of Pokemon from ALL the games to appease genwunners, as well as a further descent into casualization that we couldn't even begin to imagine a few years ago when XY released.
