Pokemon has been re-using models since Gen 6, and a good amount of those models have been around earlier since a few were scooped up from 3D Pokedex, At least Next Order was kind enough to give those models new animations and Hacker's Memory put in a new story than just slapping Ultra onto it and adding 2 minigames.

Agumon & Gabumon's models are also updated from OP's pic, so that's more I could say about Pikachu & Eevee, who's fucking legs are textured onto the player's arm.

It would just be more lines connecting to other Digimon. Since Story evolution is manual, it doesn't matter if requirements overlap. Bigger issue is that doing so is a lot of work since only a fraction have current-style 3D models made and many straight up only have one illustration or dot image to go off, so a lot of work to make them all. Although the incompleteness of Digimon Reference Book doesn't help either.

Well it’s ambitious, but knowing they WANT to do it is encouraging, at the very least. There are a bunch of PSX era Digimon that are nostalgic for me personally, and seeing them brought back would be amazing.

Meanwhile it feels like Pokémon is overwhelmed with how many monsters it has and doesn’t want to try. I can understand a Kanto remake, fine, but not including the Kanto Pokémons’ new evolutions, nor letting GO players transfer in Pokemon from Gen 2 or 3, just comes off as odd to me.

I liked the battle system fine in Cyber Sleuth, but wow I hated the detective aspect of the game. Doesn't have any sense of mystery, it's just fetchquest shit. And the character designs kinda suck, especially compared the Digimon anime.

I've always loved the style of Digimon designs. Hopefully they make a good action RPG taking place inside the digital world someday.

It is essentially a response to people's strong nostalgia and how Pokémon Go was hotcakes. Also should be an easy level 0 entry point instead of the main games' level 1. "Overwhelmed with" seems like how Gens 6 and 7 did it, apparently a negative reaction to Gen 5's rebooty feeling, but it will be much more effective to tell how Gamefreak plans in the future by the other game.

I feel like if Pokemon were to do something sensible next gen, it’d be start off like USUM but end like ORAS. You get a mix of brand new Pokémon and some old standbys, but after you clear certain parts of the story, the Pokédex sort of expands and you can find more stuff beyond the region you’ve become familiar with.
