If you want a really good tip to make sure your team doesn't suck, don't just slap together 6 random mons because they're all in the same tier. Look up the usage stats for the tier to know what the popular stuff is, then try and build a team around 1 or 2 powerful mons.
If you're playing Random then yeah just go for it.
