most retarded decision ever, it would have been literally better if they stuck with the concept they have in the rest of the game instead of making this battles out of nowhere trying to be "epic". But I guess they have to copy Go in everything.

Don't compare a Pokemon barely managing to walk right behind you (That what tipped off most of people), and attack animation directly taken directly from the in-battle segment of the game.
If it was cutscene it would look more like the actual encounter cinematic shown 5 seconds earlier

The only way the battle would have any difficulty is having to k.o. it, trying to catch it, and if you fail multiple times, he heals and you go back into battle.
Which would feel like some sort of boss battle, since the more you fail, the longer you'll battle and your team will struggle. It would feel like an actually legendary battle.
