Fairy is far more interesting and appropriate for an RPG series about combating magical monsters than Light ever would've been. And I applaud them for taking that bold move.

Fairy, Bug, Ghost, and Dragon are all stupid ideas for types. There should have been a subsection of categories that those kind of mons could fall into. Bird would have fit into that niche also.

You have to remember that Pokémon debuted in 1996 on the Gameboy. They weren't going to implement anything too crazy like sub-Types.

Fairy is so poorly implemented. It's obvious it was a marketing choice first and a game design choice second. Dragon was a bit too strong, but making ice more viable or just directly nerfing dragon would've been infinitely better than implementing an entirely new, just as broken type.

Fairy type is honestly like a big middle finger to my three favorite types
>counters dark even though it wasn't nearly as bad as dragon or fighting

bug type before dark type got introduced is like Ice type before fairy was introduced: weak, but your only hope of taking down the most powerful type.

Too bad the only bug-type that got the only good bug-type attack was part poison
Plus bug is super-effective against dark, so even though dark kinda invaded on the psychic-killer niche (which it never actually really had), bug had new use
