>>36105133Jesus you are so fucking dumb. First of all, no, english names aren't canon, you have absolutelly no argument, a translation isn't canon, the original source, the nip one is. Brock isn't Kanto's Rock Type gym leader's canon name, Takeshi is. Misty isn't canon either, Kasumi is, etc, etc.
That said, the english names of the pokemon ARE canon... because they exist in the japanese version too. If you actually pay attention to the fucking games you find out that the option to switch to other languages' names in the Pokedex is something that exist in universe, and other languages obviously exist in-universe too, so it's canon that a pokemon is know by some name in certain parts of the world, but other places call him other way. For example, Red's fire starter is canonically called Lizardon because lives in poke!Japan, while Calem's "Lizardon" is actually called Dracaufeu because he's from Poke!France. The pokemon canonically have different names, just like IRL animals have different names that changes with the language, but people is completely different, they always have the same name, and the canon one is the japanese one.
