Why did they give Croconaw a random caveman theme and then suddenly drop it when it evolves? I love Feraligatr, but I gotta wonder where that theme would've gone if they expanded it and added it to Feraligatr's design. Maybe in a future mega or something, I guess. If they ever come back in any case.

There aren't any rules in design; however, there are guidelines. As far as Pokemon goes, Feraligatr does not appear to be breaking any guidelines. Hell, if gen 1 set the standard for those guidelines, most Pokemon would be ambiguously saurian/kaiju mon. In that case, Feraligatr looks Pokemon af.
