I wouldn't call DP originals trash, but Platinum is definitely an improvement, as much as Emerald is to RS.

Yeah I skipped Platinum originally since I was so bored by Pearl. Plat definitely has excellent level scaling.

They're not expensive, at least not the sinnoh games. I bought Platinum last week CiB for $20. HGSS are ridiculous though with the cart alone being $50 the secret though is that they're not actually that good since it still has a lot of flaws of the original gen 2 games.
