Because
a) Everyone knew he was going to lost in the quarterfinals in Unova, it had been spoiled by magazine summaries like a month in advance
b) Unova was a fucking shitshow and his team was complete ass, so nobody had any expectations, especially not after Roxie.

Point a is the one random observers have a really hard time getting. The Kalos League was LITERALLY the only league in the history of the show that did not have its results spoiled way in advance. The last episodes of the league had him in the finals, that was going to be the end of the league no matter if he won or lost. Every other league has had the final episode of the league be some other round, so you know that's the round he loses.

Cameron, thankfully, didn't win the Unova League. It was some other guy, who I personally had no problem with.

Whereas Cameron is the worst rival and character in the entire Pokemon franchise in my opinion

Seriously how did he get all those Pokemon, did someone else raise them for him or was it dumb luck?

Indigo League was shit, but Cameron is unironically the single worst character in the entire franchise bar none, and the fact that he won with a team of 5 against Ash's team of 6 is a goddamned insult and the fucking moron who wrote it as well as his supervisor who OK'd it both need to commit sepukku on international television.
