>>36112177That still remains to be seen, Pokemon still does the same numbers it was doing back as early as gen 2, pulling in a billion or more per generation. Whereas, Go has made $1.8bn to date, but also rocketed into irrelevance in the meantime.
The real question is, even with pre-order buzz it had awhile back, what will LGPE be? Will it turn out like the core series, consistently being bank evergreen releases that continue to make them billions even 20 years on? Or will it turn out like Go, making a lot of money really quickly only to burn out five minutes later?
It'll be hard to outdo the core series that makes over a billion per generation. Even Gen 6 did it and that generation didn't have upper versions, meanwhile the core games alone have earned $9bn over two decades. LGPE and Go have a long way to go before reaching milestones like that and if Go is any indication of what LGPE's going to be like, it'll be tough. Not least as they need to convert mobile users to console which isn't a trivial matter and most to attempt it have failed. Will Game Freak/LGPE be different?
