Nah, the flood of pokemon is fine. They need to further develop alternate battle strategies so that there's more you can do with them. Going to do a monotype run, looking at what's available for most of the game and going 'well guess I'll just kms then' isn't all that good.

Depends how you like to play the game. If you want tons of options for your party then the "flood of pokemon" is cool.

For me, I like the idea of catching them all, or at least close. And I like some level of familiarity. With the new games I can play for dozens of hours and still be like "what the fuck is this pokemon? What type is this?" It's a little overwhelming. Also, with 450 pokemon, I just don't even both with the pokedex quest. I'm never going to even get close so why bother.

I want a game that is challenging but I don't want it to be a full time job between pokedex grinding and keeping a few basic familiarity with all the different pokemon
